Welcome to the Experimental Aerodynamics and Multiphase Flow (ExAM-Flow) Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The City College of New York!
We aim to develop and implement advanced thermal-flow diagnostic technologies to solve the most challenging aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, and multiphase flow and heat transfer problems related to aerospace, mechanical, biomedical, transportation, marine, and civil applications.

Ph.D. Positions
Multiple Ph.D. openings are now available in our lab. Prospective students should have the following qualifications to be considered for this position:
- A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s would be preferred) in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience in using optical/acoustic/infrared diagnostic techniques such as PIV, Schlieren imaging, ultrasound, and infrared thermometry.
- Experience in experimental fluid mechanics or aerodynamics.

Postdoc Positions
A Post-Doctoral Research Associate Position in the field of experimental fluid dynamics and heat transfer is available immediately in our lab. The position will involve in conducting both fundamental and applied studies related to high-speed aerodynamics, multiphase flow and heat transfer driven by shocks/blasts, off-shore wind turbine aerodynamics, and unmanned-air-vehicle (UAV) applications. The job responsibility will also include assisting the lab director in managing the lab daily operation, supervising graduate and undergraduate students, developing research proposals, and preparing technical reports and papers. The appointment is for one year, and will be renewed for additional years subject to performance.

- Experimental thermal-fluid background with a strong publication record in one or more of the following areas: experimental fluid dynamics and heat transfer; multiphase flows; active/passive flow control.
- Hands-on experiences of using laser-based flow diagnostic techniques such as LDV, PIV and LIF are highly desirable.
- Strong communication and language skills, as evidenced by publications.
A current C.V. with the minimum following information/sections is required:
- Educational background, degree dates, GPA with scale, name of advisor;
- Relevant work experience;
- Journal and conference publications lists.
